Book Events for July

Book Events for July

I have several book events next month. For those folks who are in Montana--living there, traveling through or just having fun, come and chat with me about Mattie Culver or Yellowstone Chip Samuell.

One event is a book signing at Rank's Mercantile in Virginia City, Montana.
Besides a great selection of books, Rank's has some fantastic period clothing.
The signing is on July 21 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
This is the same day Paul Boruff will be performing at the

Two book events will be in West Yellowstone, Montana.
Each presentation will be at the Yellowstone Historic Center.
The first one is about Mattie Shipley Culver on July 19, 2012 at 6:00 pm.
The Yellowstone Historic Center is now showing Mattie Culver's  personal items in a display entitled "Buried in Yellowstone--The Mysterious Grave of Mattie Culver."

The last presentation will be about Yellowstone Chip Samuell,
singer and entertainer extraordinaire.

Smells of the Garden

It was a wonderful morning to be in the garden. Smells from the "Dump Fire" have filled the night, and for me brought back memories I'd rather have stay away, of the Fires of Yellowstone (1988). But I was rescued by the smell of oregano. Moving into the garden chives and cilantro gave my taste buds the feeling I was ready for salsa.

Not to be outdone the tomato plants reminded me of their fine taste to come as I pinched back excess growth. Finally I was soothed by my wild and uncontrollable mint patch. Thank you dirt, worms, and water.

Dry Wind

The Winds are Dry

A bike ride this morning was a breezy affair. It blew against me and it blew me home again. Smoke is in the air from a fire started by target shooters, who should know better. The fire closes in on a homes and an explosives company. Homes are evacuated and folks are worried.

My plants seen dry but are still giving me their food. Thanks!

Eating from the Garden

I love to eat from the garden

So many articles have been declaring the pesticides in all the fresh foods that I am grateful I have my own garden to eat from.

Today I consumed a wonderful smoothie, made by Paul, of strawberries and raspberries from the garden. I also harvested anther bell pepper from my plant that I started in my greenhouse this winter.

Dad's Home

Waiting for Dad

The sound of frogs, the smell of willows--I'm by the creek in the depression within a willow "fort" reading a book, that's the perfect summer day for me as a child. I look at the sun and realize Dad's going to be home soon.

Run home, drop the book in the house and go out to wait. I know Dad's car will be pulling in soon. It rounds the corner to the special place he parks. Run to the car. Now he gets out and I hug him. I take his lunch box and walk with him to the house. Dad's home.

Sundance Directors Labs Again

Actors give directors character to work with. Directors help you as an actor find new levels. What a great synergistic relationship. The Sundance Directors Lab 2012 has infused me with new energy. Look at the announcement for their line up of great directors:

I don't mind reviews. Not so thrilled about critics, but understand their thread. I love my work and it's honest. So I don't really need validation but when it comes from an unexpected source  you know your work is effective. Thanks to Ian Calderon for taking his time to chat with me about performance, love of the earth and work.

Sundance Director Labs

It has been a fun, fantastic acting session this year at the Directors Labs. I had the opportunity to work with two great directors not to mention their fantastic crew members.

I worked with both Ariel Kleiman and Mariell Heller. For Ari I played an assassin and for Mari I was a recruiter of prosititues for a group of women friends. How much more fun can it be to work back to back days with the same dialog and have it be a completely different "life."
