Beaux Arts Classicism

Kletting's design for the Salt Palace was exactly that.
He must have loved to bring some of the skill he learned while working in Paris
to Salt Lake City.

Time of Anxiety

Time of Anxiety

For a year now I have found it imperative to daily readjust my attitude.
My wish is to continue my life in a positive light.
Forces outside myself fight me for the wish.

I sometimes find solace in the writing of others to help my path.
This, from Maya Angelou is my mantra for the day.

When someone else is having a bad day or feeling down, connect to the light within you and share your prismatic colorful personality with them. Do your best to brighten their day, and for heaven’s sake at the very least, do not make their day worse.

Lovely Images

Lovely Images

I have a love of vintage autograph books.
The hand writing is precise and beautiful.
Some writers add fantastic drawings.
And then there are the stickers.

This one is from my great-great aunt's autograph/scrapbook.

The sticker opens up and each layer has "sayings" on the back of a floral display.
Although the sticker is now pasted in her book,
the fabric at the top once allowed you to pull it and the
layers would open for viewing under the layers of flowers.
Here is each layer for you to see the sentiments.

Completing the Bike Trail

Completing the Bike Trail

The bridge is in place to complete the bicycle trail along the Jordan River in SLC

The concrete down to the Fisher Mansion property is almost complete too.

Richard Kletting, architect of the Fisher Mansion, would have loved this project.
According to family and friends, Richard was always designing improvements for SLC.

Kletting and the Cullen

Kletting and the Cullen

Richard Kletting designed the Cullen building for Matthew Cullen and Jacob Moritz,
the owners of the Salt Lake Brewing Company.

When it was demolished in 1954, various pieces became parts of other buildings.

[USHS photo of the demolition]

One of the places that host stone from the Cullen is the Lebanese Garden
in the Salt Lake City Peace Gardens.

A Stroll Among Thermals

A Stroll Among Thermals

A fine day at Norris Geyers Basin
Saw wonderful thermals as usual and chatted with folks from all over the world.
There is laughter with trying to find a name for the sounds you hear.

Another stroll at Fountain Paint Pots brings colors to a new level.

A refreshing walk to the falls
always fills me with wonder.

A glass of wine with Paul to share thoughts of the day
and what's coming up for the summer.

New Horizons

New Horizons

I am on an adventure in Yellowstone National Park.

I will just be working as a cashier this summer but am
headlong into writing my new biography about Richard Kletting.
It is a new road for me as I am co-authoring with an historian and architect.

Into the park this afternoon just to re-immerse myself into the environment.
It's been almost two decades since I've worked here.

I enjoyed some sights that have refreshed my soul.
