Margaret Sellers' Friendship Book 10 March 1902

 10 March 1902

Margaret enters writing of two authors.
A Wordsworth poem, one of her favorites,
and author Elizabeth von Armin.

I have not yet read "The Solitary Summer" that Madge quotes,
but I know this will be a perfect one for me.

Margaret Sellers' Friendship Book 5 March 1902

 5 March 1902
and one from 3 (4) March

Bertha pens two dates.
(She may have meant 3 and 4, because
in 1902 Monday was the 3rd and Tuesday was the 4th)

Bertha quotes a section from Psalm 34.
This psalm is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
Her verse is seven.

Her quote for Tuesday is from Carlyle.

Another entry for 5 March
Anna adds a photo, Her poem is from
Sydney Smith.

Here's another poet I'm introduced to
from Madge's book.
This photo is from Wikipedia.

Mattie Shipley Culver

 Mattie Shipley Culver

It is the 135th anniversary of Mattie Culver's
death in
Yellowstone National Park.

Most folks learn about her death from her gravestone.
I wrote a biography for Mattie back in 1997.

Today many people know of her history and my
work is used in various newer publications.

Check Amazon of the publisher for new and used copies.
