I love to look for them.

This morning's walk was punctuated by the sound

of a downy woodpecker on the electric line pole.

A cold front came through and it seemed like a perfect morning to harvest herbs.

This is my greenhouse in summer.

It likes it's job of drying herbs and being a reading room.

I have lemon balm, chives, peppermint, marjoram

and sage drying.

This is the 25th year since the Yellowstone Fires of 1988.

Hot Winds of August was Paul Boruff's composition, 

written in 1988, in response to the event.

Independence Rock

Independence Rock

I know that usually folks post the names they find on Independence Rock.

I most likely will do that too in a few days.

However I just loved the wildlife around the rock just as much as the rock itself.

A pair of Pronghorn

A camouflaged bunny.

This rabbit ran right on up Independence Rock.

I am holding up another large granite rock.

I spent some time with my sis at the Sergeant Floyd Monument

in Sioux City, Iowa today.

I have been here many, many times while leading Lewis and Clark tours
but I have never been able to take photos for myself.

So here are some shots from today's visit.

Yes she is really there.

I am calling Paul, telling him I'm at the Floyd monument.
He too has been there many times.

Of course I always have to connect what I do to Yellowstone in some way,

so here it is--the great engineer Hiram Chittenden, of Yellowstone fame

designed this monument.
